Snail MailI was recently contacted by Yusuf who is carrying a family company based in Istambul - Turkey started by her sister called Galen Leather. They made beautiful handmade leather notebooks and stationery that transport you to another time.
Their store is totally a dream, they have pen cases, notebook covers, wooden writing boxes, and anything a stationery lover would dream off. The best part is that they ship internationally so I was able to get this all the way from Turkey to Argentina.
Recientemente me escribio Yusuf que lleva adelante una empresa familiar basada en Estambul - Turquia que su hermana creó llamada Galen Leather. Hacen cuadernos hermosos en cuero y todo tipo de stationery que te transporta a otro tiempo.
Su negocio es un sueño, tienen portalapices, cubre cuadernos, cajas de madera llenas de stationery y cualquier otra cosa que un amante de la papelería podría soñar con. La mejor parte es que hacen envio internacionales así que pude recibir este paquete directo de Turquia a Argentina.
The packaging was beautiful, I think it would make a really good impression if you need to give as a gift to a stationery lover. And it resisted the long trip in the mail perfectly!
Pedí el Everyday book, una pluma y un cuaderno de cuero. El packaging es hermoso, creo que si necesitan dar un regalo estos productos darían una muy buena impresión, y además resistieron el largo viaje perfectamente.
The fountain pen was made in collaboration with Kaweco Sport and it came in this beautiful vintage-like box:
La pluma fue hecha en colaboración con la marca Kaweco Sport y viene también en una caja vintage muy linda:
Following their iconic original 1935 octagonal design, this fountain pen can be described as 'small in the pocket, large in the hand.' The oversized cap arrangement creates a small closed pen but a full-length open pen. Closed, the Kaweco Fountain Pen is just 105mm long. Open, it is 133mm long.
Esta pluma sigue el diseño original octoganal creado en 1935 y tiene la característica que al estar cerrada es bastante chica pero dado que su tapa es grande al estar abierta tiene un lago completo como cualquier otra pluma.
This sharpener case was one of the things I was more excited about, personally, I never saw a sharpener case and I think is one of the cutest things ever. The case comes with an MÖBIUS + RUPERT brass sharpener, who were the first to industrially manufacture sharpeners and have been doing so for almost 100 years.
Este sacapuntas con su funda de cuero era de los productos que más estaba esperando, nunca vi un sacapuntas con una funda y me pareció de las cosas mas tiernas. El sacapunta es de Mobius + Rupert, que fueron los primero en producir sacapuntas industrialmente y lo han seguido haciendo en los últimos 100 años.
Finally but not least this beautiful Leather Notebook with old Tomoe River Paper 52gsm. I am amazed by the level of detail in this notebook from using not just this incredible Tomoe River Paper that shows the sheen and shimmer in inks but the item description also identify whether is the old Tomoe River Paper or the new (since there was some discussion in the fountain pen community about new vs. old)
Por último pero no lo menos hermoso este cuaderno de cuero con hojas Tomoe River 52gsm (de las viejas). Me sorprendió este nivel detalle en los productos, por ejemplo el hecho que el cuaderno este hecho con Tomoe River que son conocidas por mostrar las distintas tonalidades de la tinta cuando escribís con pluma. Además de eso cuidaron el detalle de usar las hojas viejas de Tomoe River dado que hubo bastante polémica en el cambio de la calidad de las hojas.

Así se ven las distintas tonalidades en el papel Tomoe River, algunas tintas inclusos muestran otros colores super distintos.
I am truly amazed to see this family company expanding globally and bringing back the art of handwriting we so much passion and knowledge.
Realmente estoy sorprendida por esta empresa familiar que se está expandiendo mundialmente con tanta pasión y conocimiento del tema! Aprendí muchísimo solo leyendo al descripción de cada uno de sus productos.
